DVD Release: Prep & Landing

Prep & LandingDisney’s Emmy Award-winning animated Christmas special Prep & Landing made its debut on DVD in time for the 2011 holiday season. The disc was released by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment on Nov. 22, 2011, priced at $19.99.

The TV movie, which debuted on ABC in 2009, follows two elves who are part of a high-tech team that enures homes around the world are ready for Santa. Grumpy after being passed over for a promotion after 227 years of service — I would be too! — Wayne (voiced by funnyman Dave Foley) is partnered with idealistic rookie Lanny (Derek Richardson, TV’s Men in Trees) for a special Christmas Eve mission, but when they’re faced with unexpected challenges, Christmas is threatened for all the children of the world.

Sarah Chalke from TV’s Scrubs also lends her voice to the television movie, which won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program, an Annie Award for Best Animated Television Production and a Visual Effects Society Award for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Broadcast Miniseries, Movie or Special.

TPrep & Landing DVD boxhe DVD comes with two short films, or “Stocking Stuffer Shorts,” according to Disney:

  • “Tiny’s Big Adventure,” about how a simple attempt to make coffee at the North Pole Christmas Eve Command Center accidentally destroys the elves’ break room
  • and “Operation Secret Santa,” in which Mrs. Claus sends Lanny and Wayne on a special assignment into Santa’s office. Mrs. Clause is voiced by the wonderful Betty White (Betty White in Black and White).

The DVD also contains four Prep & Landing Academy Training Videos shot in Santa’s Workshop:
