Li Peng Zhang prepares to let loose in The Last Kung Fu Monk.

Screen Media released the 2010 martial arts-filled action-thriller The Last Kung Fu Monk on DVD on Sept. 6, 2011, for the list price of $24.98.

Directed by and starring Li Peng Zhang (Blooming Flowers), the R-rated film concerns a Shaolin monk and Kung Fu master named Li Long (Li Peng Zhang) who makes his way to New York from Hong Kong to care for the son of his recently killed brother. Li Long opens a school to teach the ancient arts, unaware that the school has actually been funded by the Russian mafia. When the nasty underworld organization kidnaps his nephew, Li Long is forced to unleash his formidable skills and battle for his life in an underground fight club.

What makes this hard-hitting action-thriller more notable than most is that Li Peng Zhang is an actual Shaolin Monk who trained in the martial arts for more than two decades at a Shaolin Temple in China.

Filmed in Hong Kong and New York City, the movie received a brief release in theaters in the U.S. in October 2010.
