NeverlandNick Willing, the director who brought his own version of classic fairy tales The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderful to the SyFy Channel, turned his pen and camera on Peter Pan for Neverland.

Willing takes some liberties with J.M. Barrie‘s original lost boy story, adding in a touch of Dickens. In the fantasy mini-series, a prequel of sorts of Peter Pan, young orphan Peter (Charlie Rowe, Never Let Me Go) and his gang of pickpockets are magically transported to a world called Neverland, where time stands still. Also along for the ride is the group’s adult caretaker, of sorts, Jimmy Hook (Rhys Ifans, Anonymous) — guess who he becomes…

In Neverland, the kids and Hook must contend with the deadly pirate Elizabeth Bonny (Anna Friel, Limitless), who has ruled the seas of the magical land for nearly two centuries; Smee (Made in Dagenham‘s Bob Hoskins reprising his role from Hook); and the courageous tree spirit Tinker Bell (voiced by Keira Knightley, Pirates of the Caribbean).

Charles Dance (TV’s Game of Thrones), Q’orianka Kilcher (The New World) and Raoul Trujillo (Cowboys & Aliens) also star in the television miniseries.

On DVD and Blu-ray, Neverland comes in collectible packaging with limited edition character postcards.

Both also include these bonus features:

  • cast interviews
  • behind-the-scenes featurettes.
