Every release of the Spartacus series, especially the Blu-ray versions, have been spectacular both in their visual representation and sound. The Blu-ray discs are reference material without a doubt, and we don’t expect any less from this new complete series release.

If you’re a fan of the sandal epic then you really NEED this set if you don’t already own them.

The series will be released in the standard Blu-ray + Digital HD with Ultraviolet, as well as the standard DVD bot in a box set.

This series is also uncut and uncensored, so there will be some extended scenes and none of the sex or violence has been altered. Some of the original episodes that aired on Starz were altered slightly regarding some sex and violence even for the cable audience. So if you’ve seen it on Starz you may not have seen it all!

The set also contains a full disc of new bonus features. The Blu-ray versions have three new audio commentaries for the first season that are exclusive to the collection.

There’s even a limited edition Blu-ray + Digital HD with Ultraviolet set packaged with a Spartacus collector’s figurine, available for the retail priceof $199.99.

The complete series starts with Spartacus: Blood and Sand, which shows Spartacus  sold into slavery and ultimately forced to battle as a gladiator.

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, is a prequel that shows the history before the arrival of Spartacus and goes into more background about Batiatus and his house.

Spartacus: Vengeance, continues to follow Spartacus as he’s faced with a choice to either satisfy his personal need for vengeance or make the sacrifices necessary to keep his growing army from breaking apart at the seams.

Finally Spartacus: War of the Damned, shows Spartacus as he carves his name into history and plots to avenge his wife’s death and lead his army into an uprising that will not be forgotten.

The TV show made Australian actor Andy Whitfield (The Clinic) a household name in its first season, but after his tragic and untimely death from non-hodgkin lymphoma, the show retreated to the prequel then the role of Spartacus was taken over by Liam McIntrye for the second and third seasons.

John Hannah (TV’s Damages), Peter Mensah (TV’s True Blood), Manu Bennett (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) and Lucy Lawless (Bitch Slap) also star in the series.
