New Release: Country Strong DVD and Blu-ray

Country Strong movie sceneOscar-nominated musical drama Country Strong, starring Gwyneth Paltrow (Iron Man 2) and Tim McGraw (The Blind Side), arrived on DVD and Blu-ray, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on April 12, 2011.

The movie centers around rising a country music songwriter (Garrett Hedlund, Tron: Legacy) who joins with a fallen star (Paltrow), and together they work toward his ascent in popularity and her comeback. But that leads to romantice complications with Paltrow’s husband (McGraw) and a beauty queen turned singer (Leighton Meester, Going the Distance).

Paltrow sang in the movie, but it’s not her first: She also sang in 2000’s Duets.

Rated PG-13, Country Strong grossed $20.2 million in theaters, with mixed reviews. Its Oscar nominee was for Best Original Song “Coming Home,” which also got a nomination for a Golden Globe.

The DVD and Blu-ray come packed with special features.
