Starz original series Spartacus: Blood and Sand: The Complete First Season will be available on DVD and Blu-ray on Sept. 21, but three lucky fans can get the high-definition version for free thanks to Disc Dish and Anchor Bay Entertainment.

Starring Andy Whitfield (Gabriel), John Hannah (The Mummy series), Lucy Lawless (TV’s Battlestar Galactica) and Peter Mensah (300), Spartacus: Blood and Sand follows a warrior who is captured by Romans and enslaved into a gladiator training school. There he must fight for his life on and off the arena. (Read our review.)

Both the DVD and Blu-ray will include all 13 episodes of the first season plus these special features:

• commentaries
• behind-the-scenes footage
• bloopers
• episodes with enhanced digital effects
• and featurettes including “Gladiator Camp,” “History Rewritten,” “Makeup Effects” and “The Hole.”

The Blu-ray also will contain four Director’s Cut Extended Episodes selected by executive producer Rob Tapert.

The DVD will be priced at $59.97 and Blu-ray priced at $79.97 in stores, but on Disc Dish, you can get the Blu-ray for free.

   I worship this show. I even got my mom hooked on it. How? Easy, I didn’t let her miss it. I hogged the tv every day it was on. At first she was shocked at everything, including, and I would say specially with the “Fluffer” scene, you know the one between John and Lucy. Yep she will never see John in the same light again and neither could anyone (But that’s a bad thing). This show pushes the envelope, it takes risks that no one else can pull off. After a while my mom got all into the drama, specially with the relationship (if it can be called that)between Dominus and Spartacus. We still say that instead of calling the show “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” it should have been Spartacus: Blood and Sex! But that’s just us crazy Puerto Ricans here talking. We do love the show and that finale was kick ass! It would make my birthday complete if I won this blu-ray!!! PLEASE!!! I don’t mean to beg but I am crossing my fingers. Make this Sparty Fan have the best B Day ever!!!

    I love this show, it brings something SO new and different to the table. When I first just heard the buzz, I knew it was going to be amazing. All the actors play their characters SO incredibly that it’s hard to pick a favorite, but I can’t wait until the second season. Hope to win one of these, it would be a dream to own it on Blu-Ray and see the amazing quality that I didn’t get to see from one of the best shows on televisions. Will definitely be forwarding this to other people. Great site! 🙂

    I follow it on Facebook. I loved it when Spartacus and Ilithyia don’t recognize each other beneath the masks until it’s too late and the deed is done. How ironic!!! Every hero needs a good villain/villainess to bring out the best in him. I’m looking forward to what happens when Glaber (Craig Parker) finally discovers his wife’s wanton ways and how the little hussy humiliated him. Glaber’s and Spartacus’s inevitable showdown should be epic.

    Absolutely the best series I have seen on TV in many years. I was hooked from the first episode and couldn’t wait for Friday to get here so I could see the new episode each week. Andy Whitfield was a perfect choice to play the character of Spartacus and his supporting cast are all great. Love, love, love the show!
