4192: The Crowning of the Hit King movie scene

Pete Rose shows how he earned the nickname Charlie Hustle in 4192: The Crowning of the Hit King.

4192: The Crowning of the Hit King, a feature-length documentary on the career of baseball legend Pete Rose, came out on DVD from Rivercoast Films on Feb. 22, 2011.

Directed by Terry Lukemire (Rebound: A Basketball Story), the 2010 sports film is filled with vintage clips and stills, interviews with Rose’s former colleagues and competitors and talks with the man himself.

One of baseball’s most driven players and compelling personalities, Rose spent 23 years as a player for the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Montreal Expos, ultimately breaking the all-time hits record held by the legendary Ty Cobb with an astounding 4,256 career hits. Rose racked up many other major league records, including 3,562 games played; 14,053 at bats; 3,215 singles; and 5,752 total bases by a switch hitter, stats that will likely never be equaled.

4192: The Crowning of the Hit King played in a few theaters but essentially premiered on DVD.

No special features are on the disc, which carries a list price of $14.95.
