The bleakly realistic film about a marriage in trouble focuses on a wife (Jean Simmons, Spartacus) turning to drink and pills in the face of indifference from her straying husband (John Forsythe, TV’s Charlie’s Angels).

The R-rated movie also stars Shirley Jones, Lloyd Bridges, and Teresa Wright, with cinematography by the great Conrad Hall (American Beauty) and music by the sublime Michel Legrand (The Umbrellas of Cherbourg), available on this Twilight Time release as an isolated track.
