New Release: The Karate Kid (1984) and The Karate Kid II Blu-ray

The Karate Kid

When the remake of The Karate Kid came out in theaters, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment took the buzz opportunity to release the original The Karate Kid and The Karate Kid II on Blu-ray.

Released on May 11, 2010, the 1984 Karate Kid debuted on high-definition with these special features:

  • “Beyond the Form” featurette
  • commentary with director John G. Avidsen, writer Robert Mark Kamen and actors Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita
  • “East Meets West: A Composer’s Notebook”
  • “Life of Bonsai” featurette
  • “The Way of the Karate Kid” multi-part making-of featurette

The Karate Kid II includes just the featurette “The Sequel.”

Both action movies also were available in a double-feature two-pack.

List prices were $24.95 for each film individually and $39.95 for the two-pack.
