Summer superhero movie Thor arrives on DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D on Sept. 13 from Paramount Home Entertainment, and Best Buy is offering an exclusive set with cover art from the character’s comic book debut.
Available for pre-order today, Best Buy’s limited edition box is a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack that will be released the same day as the other disc versions of the movie. Best Buy’s box features the original artwork of Marvel’s Thor, which appeared in the “Journey Into Mystery” #83 comic book in August 1962. The cover art was by Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott.
Keeping with the comic roots, pre-orders of the Best Buy Thor set also come with a one-month subscription of Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited, a $9.99 value.
The PG-13 movie stars Australian actor Chris Hemsworth (A Perfect Getaway) as Thor, sent to Earth by his father (Anthony Hopkins, The Rite). Here, Thor falls for Natalie Portman (Black Swan) as he battles bad guys from his home planet.
The Blu-ray/DVD combo includes 80 minutes of bonus features, including the original short film Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant, a look into the world of director Kenneth Branagh (Sleuth) and a sneak peek at the upcoming film Marvel’s The Avengers, in which Thor will next appear.
