AMC’s awesome zombie TV show The Walking Dead has a better 13 episodes in season two, instead of just the six that made up season 1.

Based on the popular comic books by Robert Kirkman, the Emmy-winning television series is set after a zombie apocalypse has left humans the minority and running for their lives. In the second season, police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) leads his group of survivors in search of a safe new home, but instead of the zombies, fighting among the living remains their biggest threat.

Jon Bernthal (Rampart) and Sarah Wayne Callies (TV’s Prison Break) also star in the show, as, respectively, Grimes’ former partner and wife who began having an affair.

The Walking Dead‘s season one won an Emmy Award for its makeup design and was nominated for sound editing and visual effects. The television series also was nominated for a Best Television Series – Drama Golden Globe.

The Walking Dead: The Complete Second Season are four-disc sets on DVD and Blu-ray, and the high-definition Blu-ray set also is available in a limited edition zombie head case designed by McFarlane Toys.

As well as the episodes, all the sets are loaded with behind-the-scenes footage, featurettes and audio commentaries.
