Strange Frame, an animated lesbian science fiction rock musical, arrives on DVD in March!

Strange Frame is—get this—an animated lesbian science fiction rock musical film, directed and co-written by G.B. Hajim.

The film is set at the end of the 28th century, at time when the human race has long since abandoned a desolate earth. In order to survive, humanity has been using genetic engineering to adapt to otherworld environments, to the point where changing one’s skin color or gender has become commonplace. On the moon Ganymede, saxophonist Parker (the voice of videogame voiceover veteran Claudia Black ) and guitarist Naia (Tara Strong, another busy videogame voice artist) are romantically drawn to each other. The two embark on their new relationship and form a new band — but they also must fight for their freedom from the evil Mig (Tim Curry, Legend).

Rendered in rich, colorful animation and filled with space pirates, indentured slaves and genetic mutations to help illustrate the transformative power of love between two women, Strange Frame also features the voices of such sci-fi genre stalwarts as Ron Glass (TV’s Firefly), Juliet Landau (TV’s Green Lantern: The Animated Series), George Takei (the Star Trek franchise), and Claudia Christian (TV’s Babylon 5).

Prior to Strange Frame’s DVD premiere, the film will be available across all digital platforms on February 5th.

After its world premiere at 2012’s Sci-Fi London: The International Festival of Science Fiction and Fantastic Film, the unrated Strange Frame won the “Best Feature Film” award at the 2012 Dragon Con in Atlanta.

Bonus features on the DVD include a pair of featurettes and a deleted scene.

This one sounds undeniably trippy!.  Star Tim Curry himself seems to think so as well: on the film’s official site, Curry is quoted as saying “Drugs? Just watching this movie makes me feel high.”
