Olympus Has FallenOlympus Has Fallen is like Die Hard in the White House, replacing Bruce Willis with Gerard Butler (Chasing Mavericks).

In the R-rated action movie, Butler plays Mike Banning, a disgraced former Presidential guard forced to work on the outside of the White House. But after terrorists take over the nation’s capitol building, Banning must put his bad-ass self in high gear to save the day.

The film also stars Aaron Eckhart (Rabbit Hole) as the President, Morgan Freeman (Oblivion) as the Speaker of the House, Angela Bassett (Green Lantern), Melissa Leo (Flight), Ashley Judd (Dolphin Tale), Dylan McDermott (The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Robert Forster (The Descendants) and Radha Mitchell (The Crazies).

Acclaimed action filmmaker Antoine Fuqua (Brooklyn’s Finest) directed Olympus Has Fallen, from a script by first-time writers Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt.

Moviegoers lapped up the bullets and explosion movie, enjoying it to the tune of $99 million in theaters. This might have shocked critics, who gave the film only 47% approval, according to Rotten Tomatoes, with Time Out‘s Guy Lodge saying “The thrills and the effects are cheap,” and Chicago Reader‘s Drew Hunt calling the movie “ludicrous.” Moviegoers liked it better, though, scoring Olympus Has Fallen at 72%.

The Blu-ray/DVD Combo comes with these special features:

  • “Under Siege: The Making of Olympus Has Fallen

  • “Creating the Action: Visual FX & Design”
  • “Deconstructing the Black Hawk Sequence”
