New Release: Kim Novak Collection DVD

One of the most beautiful stars to emerge from the studio era in the 1950s, Kim Novak was awarded her very own DVD box set from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on Aug. 3, 2010. The Kim Novak Collection features five of Novak’s films fully restored and remastered, including two that are new to DVD.

The Kim Novak Collection contains Jeanne Eagels (1957) with Jeff Chandler and Middle of the Night (1959) with Fredric March (each making their DVD debuts), as well as the Novak classic films Picnic (1955) with William Holden and Rosalind Russell; Pal Joey (1957) with Frank Sinatra and Rita Hayworth; and Bell Book and Candle (1958) with James Stewart and Jack Lemmon.

The DVD collection also features rare archival photographs of Novak on set and at work on her most popular films, as she shares her personal stories in newly recorded intimate conversations with author Stephen Rebello.

The Kim Novak Film Collection is available as a three-DVD set for $39.95.

In Jeanne Eagels, Novak plays the titular character, a poor but beautiful girl who works her way to being an actress and then falls.

In Middle of the Night, Novak plays a 24-year-old attractive divorcee who catches the eye of her older boss.

Novak plays a beauty in Picnic too, this time attracting a drifter who has stumbled into a small town the day of a Labor Day Picnic.

In Pal Joey, Novak plays the good girl beauty who attracts charming playboy Frank Sinatra.

And in Bell Book and Candle, Novak plays an average witch who casts a spell on James Stewart.
