New Release: Don't Look Back DVD

IFC Films issued the French-language thriller Don’t Look Back, starring two of Europe’s most renowned and beautiful actresses, Monica Bellucci (The Matrix) and Sophie Marceau (Braveheart), on DVD on Nov. 16, 2010, for the suggested retail price of $24.98.

The art house film is French writer/director Marina de Van’s first feature film since her audacious 2002 debut In My Skin. Like that movie, Don’t Look Back takes another brave, disturbing plunge into darkness that plays with identity and body doubles a la David Lynch’s Mulholland Dr., David Cronenberg’s Dead Ringers and Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo.

In the movie, Jeanne (Marceau), a married writer with two children, starts to see unsettling changes in her home and her body. No one around her seems to notice, and her family dismisses these fears as the result of the stress of having to finish her next book, but Jeanne realizes that something far deeper, far more disturbing is taking place.

A photograph at her mother’s house sends her in search of a woman in Italy. Here, transformed into another woman, Rosa Maria (Bellucci), she discovers the strange secret of her true identity.
