New Release: Hideaway DVD

Louis-Ronan Choisy has a special feeling about Isabelle Carré in Francois Ozon's Hideaway.

Hideaway (La Refuge), a 2009 drama from respected French filmmaker Francois Ozon (Swimming Pool, Under the Sand), arrived on DVD on Feb. 8, 2011, from Strand Releasing.

In Ozon’s exploration of the nature of family and blood ties, Mousse (Isabelle Carré, A French Gigolo) and Louis (Melville Poupaud, Le Divorce) are young, beautiful, rich and in love, but drugs have invaded their lives. After Louis’ fatal overdose, Mousse soon learns she is pregnant.

Feeling lost, she escapes to a beautiful beach house far from Paris and is soon joined in her refuge by Louis’ gay brother, Paul (Louis-Ronan Choisy). The two strangers gradually develop an unusual and deeply moving relationship as Mousse approaches her delivery date.

Hideaway received a limited theatrical release in the U.S. in September, where it was positively reviewed by the critical community of Stateside Francophiles.

As a bonus feature, the DVD includes an original music video with Choisy, who’s also known as a singer in his native France.

The Hideaway DVD carries a list price of $27.99.
