New Release: Orgasm Inc. DVD

Orgasm Inc. First Run Features released the provocative 2009 female sexuality-themed documentary Orgasm Inc. on DVD on June 21, 2011, for a list $27.95.

The movie finds filmmaker Liz Canner (her first feature-length movie) taking a job editing erotic video clips to be used for a drug trial sponsored by a pharmaceutical company that’s working on the development of an orgasm cream for women — a sort of Viagra for women, if you will. The experience sets Canner on a nine-year odyssey as she follows the companies that are racing to be the first to win FDA approval for the product, with the potential prize being billions of dollars in profits.

Orgasm Inc. features numerous interviews with therapists, doctors, scientists and “sexperts,” along with footage that helps to explore the strange science of female pleasure. And along the way, the film reveals the arguably warped mentality of the pharmaceutical and medical industries.

Bonus features on the DVD include extra scenes and a resource guide.
