New Release: Transformers: Headmasters DVD

Transformers: The Japanese Collection – Headmasters scene

Scorponok prepares to let loose his wrath in Transformers: Headmasters.

Fortress Maximus, Scorponok, Soundwave, Blaster and the rest of the extra-terrestrial, robotic Transformers crew are featured in Transformers: The Japanese Collection – Headmasters, which made its U.S. DVD debut on July 5, 2011, from Shout! Factory.

Produced in 1987, The Transformers: Headmasters is the first part of the animated science-fiction Japanese TV series trilogy that followed the popular 1984 Generation 1 series.

The four-DVD set features all the episodes from the Headmasters show and contains the original Japanese language tracks along with updated English subtitles. For a bonus, the DVD has an art gallery.

This disc should make a good tie-in for those who have a special place in their hearts for the original Transformers animated series, but aren’t too keen on the earplugs that might be required for the theatrical experience of Michael Bay’s live-action Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon.

The DVD carries the list price of $29.93.
