Café movie scene

Love to Love Hewitt, baby: Jennifer Love Hewitt stars in the independent drama Café.

Jennifer Love Hewitt (TV’s The Ghost Whisperer) and Jamie Kennedy (Extreme Movie) star in the 2011 independent film Café, which follows the interweaving stories of a coffee shop’s regular patrons over the course of a week in West Philadelphia.

The titular café is a local meeting spot for a group of vastly diverse people, all of whom are doing their best to deal with the personal and societal issues that engulf them. When tragedy strikes the community surrounding the café, the regular customers come to realize exactly how intertwined their lives truly are.

The directorial debut of writer/director Marc Erlbaum, the ensemble comedy-drama movie also stars Daniel Eric Gold (TV’s Ugly Betty),  Alexa Vega (From Prada to Nada) and Madeline Carroll (Mr. Penguins Poppers).

Cafe was shot on location in Philadelphia and features a soundtrack that includes many local musicians.

The film received a Los Angeles premiere in August, 2011, but is essentially a DVD premiere in the U.S.
