Animation by Karen Aqua sceneAnimation by Karen Aqua is a collection of notable animated short films created by the late independent filmmaker Karen Aqua, who died in 2011 at the age of 57 following a 10-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Ms. Aqua’s work was described by one critic as having been “spawned from a mating between Matisse cutouts and carvings on Incan tombs.”

Shown in festivals and museums around the world (from Hawaii to Iran), the various films are personal and colorful explorations of the idea of transformations (internal and exterrnal), journeys, myth and the human spirit.

The artist is perhaps best known for her contributions to the popular children’s television show Sesame Street, for which she has created some 22 animated sequences.

The program runs 74 minutes, and the DVD does not contain any bonus features.
