Underworld: AwakeningKate Beckinsale (Everybody’s Fine) snaps on the leather again for Underworld: Awakening, her fourth installment of the vampire-werewolf series.

In the horror movie, Beckinsale returns as vampire warrioress Selene, but this time, her war is bigger. The humans have discovered the existence of both vampires and lycans and are trying to eliminate both species. Selene must battle the humans as well as a new breed of super lycans to ensure the continued existence of herself and her kind.

Stephen Rea (Nothing Personal), Michael Ealy (Takers), Theo James (You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger) and Charles Dance (TV’s Game of Thrones) also star in the R-rated film, which grossed a not bad $62 million when it was in theaters.

Of course, moviegoers liked Underworld: Awakening much more than critics, who gave it an approval rating of only 30%. Dallas Morning News‘ Roger Moore said of the film, “Pitiless, puerile, pointless and perfunctory — and those are just the Ps.” But not every critic disliked it. Quickflix‘s Simon Miraudo called the movie, “A swift, brutal and thoroughly competent actioner that doesn’t balk at a bit of bloodletting.”

If violence, gore and hot bods in leather are your thing, put Underworld: Awakening on your list.

Underworld: Awakening Blu-ray boxAll three disc versions contain a downloadable or streamable digital copy of the film via UltraViolet plus special features.
