TedFrom the brain of Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, Ted is as irreverant and outrageous as the TV series.

The comedy movie follows John Bennett, whose beloved teddy bear comes to life when John’s a boy. Fast forward 20-odd years and John (Mark Wahlberg, The Fighter) is still living with his teddy bear, Ted, who has become a foul-mouthed, hard-partying bear who loves his bong.

Clean up after one particularly nasty night of Ted’s partying, John’s girlfriend (Mila Kunis, Friends With Benefits) gives him an ultimatum: The bear or me. But living without each other could prove too difficult for Ted and John.

The R-rated film was directed and co-written by MacFarlane, who also voiced the bear. The movie also stars Joel McHale (The Big Year), Giovanni Ribisi (Contraband), Patrick Warburton (Men in Black II) and singer Norah Jones, and is narrated by Patrick Stewart (TV’s Star Trek: The Next Generation).

Filled with fart jokes and gross-out humor, Ted was loved more by moviegoers than critics when it ran in theaters, with an 80% approval compared to only 69% from critics, according to Rotten Tomatoes. MovieCrypt.com‘s Kevin A. Ranson liked the film, writing, “If you’ve ever put a Twisted Sister cassette into a Teddy Ruxpin or wished you could have, this movie is for you.” But Newark Star-Ledger‘s Stephen Whitty wrote that Ted “overstays its welcome without ever really coming to life itself.”

Critics’ opinions aside, Ted earned a very healthy $218.4 million during its box-office run.

The DVD and Blu-ray/DVD Combo come with an extended unrated version of the movie with more irreverent comedy, plus these special features:

  • gag reel
  • three-part making-of featurette about the film’s creation from inception to completion, with interviews and behind-the-scenes footage with the cast and crew
  • commentary with MacFarlane, co-writer Alec Sulkin and Wahlberg.

The Blu-ray/DVD Combo pack also offers these extras:

  • deleted scenes
  • alternate takes
  • “Teddy Bear Scuffle” featurette about the choreography of the Motel 6 fight scene between Wahlberg and Ted
  • downloadable digital copy of the movie
  • instant streaming via UltraViolet
  • Pocket Blu app that allows smartphones to interact with the Blu-ray player
  • and BD-Live access.
