Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season TwoThe Blu-ray debut of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation wowed us here at Disc Dish, so we have high expectations for this Season Two set.

As well as the high-definition debut of all 22 episodes, the five-disc Blu-ray collection contains an extended cut of episode “The Measure of a Man,” combining the high-def on-air version with extra material taken from an early VHS rough cut that was in writer Melinda Snodgrass’ archives.

The set also offers these new special features:

  • a roundtable reunion of the cast shot in early 2012 in Calgary for the 25th anniversary celebration of the television series, including Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spinder, Michael Dorn, Gates McFadden and Wil Wheaton
  • gag reel created from newly recovered 35mm film elements
  • two-part documentary “Making It So: Continuing Star Trek: The Next Generation,” with part one “Strange New Worlds” and part two “New Life and New Civilizations.”

That’s all plus those great season two episodes of the science-fiction TV show, which include the introductions of Whoopi Goldberg, Diana Muldaur’s Dr. Beverly Crusher and, of course, the evilest of villains, The Borg.
