Dorfman in Love movie scene

Sara Rue looks out for father Elliott Gould in Dorfman in Love.

A young woman living with her dad gets a shot at love in the 2011 romantic comedy Dorfman in Love starring Sara Rue (TV’s Rules of Engagement) and Elliott Gould (Contagion).

San Fernando Valley girl Deb Dorfman (Rue) has no special guy in her life, though she spends an awful lot of time taking care of men. They include her demanding widowed father (Gould), her vain, stingy married brother (Jonathan Chase), and her globetrotting journalist friend Jay (Johann Urb, TV’s Californication), who she has a secret crush on. While cat-sitting for Jay at his cool downtown Los Angeles, Deb gives herself a serious makeover, from a new haircut to a new “I Count Too” attitude. Especially helpful and encouraging is a hunky artist, Cookie (Haaz Sleiman), who may not be exactly what he seem…

Directed by Brad Leong, the PG-13-rated film also features Scott Wilson (TV’s The Walking Dead), Catherine Hicks (TV’s Seventh Heaven) and Sophie Monk (Spring Break ’83)

Dorfman in Love received a small release to theaters (nine screens or so) in March, 2013, to so-so reviews, though Ms. Rue got some nice notices.

There are no bonus features on the DVD.
