From Ridley Scott, the director of Gladiator, Blade Runner and Robin Hood comes his latest epic adventure – Exodus: Gods and Kings. The film grandly tells the Biblical story of how the former Egyptian prince turned leader Moses (Christian Bale, American Hustle) rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (Joel Edgerton, Animal Kingdom) and, with the help of, er, a greater power, lets loose a terrifying cycle of deadly plagues and frees 400,000 slaves.

With a screenplay credited to no less tha four writers including Steven Zaillian (an Oscar winner for Schlindler’s List), the movie features supporting turns by Sigourney Weaver (Paul), John Turturro (The Big Lebowski), Ben Kingsley (Hugo) and Aaron Paul (TV’s Breaking Bad).

Featuring top-of-the-line visual effects (dig those plagues!) and Scott’s trademark large-scale set pieces, the PG-13 epic drew all sorts of negative criticism upon its wide release to Stateside theaters in December, 2014. What it didn’t draw was crowds, with the movie ringing up disappointing $64 million at the domestic box office. It fared better around where world, where it has earned nearly $200 million!
