Director George Roy Hill’s 1966 adaptation of James Michener’s best-selling novel Hawaii focuses on a critical period in Hawaiian history, when missionaries (personified here by the great Max von Sydow and Julie Andrews), attempting to bring Christian values to the “pagan” islands, instead paved the way for corrupt and commercial Western ways.
Hawaii-1966Richard Harris, Gene Hackman, Carroll O’Connor and Jocelyne LaGarde also star in the film, which was scripted by Dalton Trumbo and Daniel Taradash. It also includes several native Polynesians (including Oscar-nominated Jocelyne LaGarde), who provide touching supporting performances.

The Twilight Time edition includes an isolated score track, a theatrical trailer and the original roadshow version  of the epic (which clocks in at 189 Minutes) in standard definition.

As Twilight Time prints up only 3,000 copies of each title, be sure to head over to the Twilight Time site or that of distributor Screen Archives to prebook this one!
