Michaela McManus in Love Finds You in Valentine

After her parents die, L.A. law student Kennedy Blaine (Michaela McManus, TV’s One Tree Hill) inherits her family’s ranch in the small town of Valentine, Nebraska. Despite the fact that her parents considered the ranch “special” and their true “home,” they never took their only child to visit—nor was Kennedy ever curious enough to venture there on her own until now.

When she finally heads to Valentine, it is with intention of selling the ranch but, upon arrival, she is drawn to not only the land’s beauty but also its hunky foreman, Derek Sterling (Diogo Morgado, Son of God).

Putting her life in L.A. on hold, Kennedy decides to spend some time at her ancestral home and, despite a long-standing feud, to reconnect with family members, including a grandfather (an underused Ed Asner) who she has never met. However, Kennedy is soon subjected to intense harassment to sell the land as quickly as possible. With an assist from Derek and his mother June’s (Lindsay Wagner, TV’s The Bionic Woman), Kennedy sets out to discover the truth behind her family history and the ranch.

If you don’t question too many of the film’s plot points (i.e. How can an L.A. native, who has never been to the ranch, be such an expert horseback rider?) Love Finds You in Valentine can make for nice guilty pleasure viewing. And if Hallmark Channel type of programming appeals to you, then this one is a perfect fit.
