Discovery Channel’s Naked and Afraid XL: Season 1 is, of course, a spin-off of Discovery’s popular reality series Naked and Afraid.

NakedAndAfraidXL1In this variation, six men and six women, all extreme survivalists with their own expertise, must take on a grueling survival challenge. With no food, no water, and no clothing, the challengers must have the skills and willpower to endure 40 days and 40 nights in the Colombian badlands. Hunting for food and building shelters in the wilderness is only the beginning, as the survivalists confront such dangers as a fierce puma, a giant electric eel, debilitating heat, and the potential terror of Piranha Lake. Some contestants will tap out and go home. For any competitor who makes it to the final extraction point, there is no prize—only the pure adrenaline rush of survival.

The Naked and Afraid XL: Season 1 DVD release is timed to the Naked and Afraid XL: Season 2 broadcast premiere this month.
