In the mountains of Pakistan, young mother Allah Rakhi (Samiya Mumtaz) kidnaps her ten-year-old daughter Zainab (Saleha Aref) to save her from a child marriage to a tribal leader. Their escape is a damning loss of honor for the two families. As a deadly hunt begins for them. Allah Rakhi, desperate for help, strikes an unlikely deal with a cynical ex-Mujahid truck driver Sohail (Mohib Mirza) driver to take them to the city of Lahore. A journey through the sweeping landscape of Pakistan ensues, wherein the search for freedom and love comes with a price.

Dukhtar played to critical acclaim in over 20 countries and was the recipient of several awards, including Audience Award for Best Feature at Creteil, Best World Feature at Sonoma, and Best Director and Best Feature Film at South Asian International Film Festival.
