Director Billy Wilder (Sunset Boulevard), pairing for the seventh time with writing partner I.A.L. Diamond, brings us the blackest of black comedy in 1966’s The Fortune Cookie.

The tale focuses on the travails of a TV cameraman (Jack Lemmon, Cowboy) who is injured while shooting a sporting event, and then inveigled into an insurance scam by his brother-in-law, the infamous Whiplash Willie (Walter Matthau, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three). Matthau snagged a well-earned Best Supporting Actor Oscar® for his indelible comic performance.
