The documentary feature Hesburgh, directed by Patrick Creadon (Ski Bum: The Warren Miller Story) written by William Neal, Nick Andert and Jerry Barca, chronicles the remarkable life and career of Rev. Theodore Martin Hesburgh CSC, who is best known for serving as the president of the University of Notre Dame for 35 years (1952-1987).

The film reveals how world leaders—from presidents to popes—called on Rev. Hesburgh to tackle the most challenging issues of the day. He built a reputation as a savvy political operator with a penchant for bridging the divide between bitter enemies. Through it all, he remained a man armed with a fierce intelligence, a quick wit and an unyielding moral compass; a timeless example of bipartisan leadership that would serve us in today’s increasingly polarized times.

Hesburgh was active during some of the most tumultuous times in our nation’s history, advancing the causes of peace and equal rights for all people. To that end, he was involved in numerous American civic and governmental initiatives, commissions, and international humanitarian projects, receiving such notable honors as the United States Presidential Medal of Freedom (1964) and the Congressional Gold Medal (2000).

The Hesburgh DVD contains extended interviews and rarely seen commencement speeches from President Dwight Eisenhower, Martin Luther King, Jr and others as bonus features
