Diana Ross gives a tour-de-force debut performance as legendary singer Billie Holiday in the music-filled 1972 drama Lady Sings the Blues, which is making its Blu-ray courtesy of Paramount Home Entertainment.

Nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Actress for Ross, Lady Sings the Blues offers a portrait of the late legendary blues singer Billie Holiday and her troubled life and career.

Directed by Sidney J. Furie (The Boys in Company C), the movie co-stars Richard Pryor (Wild in the Streets), Billy Dee Williams (Nighthawks) and the brilliant Ned Glass (North by Northwest).

Paramount’s Blu-ray includes the following previously released bonus content in  standard definition: commentary by executive producer and Motown founder Berry Gordy, director Furie and artist manager Shelly Berger, a making-of featurette entitled “Behind the Blues: Lady Sings the Blues,” and seven deleted scenes.
