The good people of Hen’s Tooth Video will re-issued the seminal 1974 sketch comedy collection The Groove Tube on May 25!

Directed, produced and co-written by Ken Shapiro, the  low-budget R-rated 1974 film—a forerunner to 1977’s Kentucky Fried Movie and the original Saturday Night Live—spoofs television programs and commercials with a healthy dose of outrageousness.

Shapiro is also featured in the cast of players, alongside Chevy Chase and Richard Belzer, both of whom make there screen debuts here.

Hen’s Tooth’s new editions of The Groove Tube have been restored by Gamma Ray Digital from a 4K scan of a 35mm archival film materials in the collection of the Library of Congress. That said, the hasn’t lost the overall raw look and graininess that only adds to its appeal.
