The 2025 romantic comedy-drama Materialists follows Lucy (Dakota Johnson, Madame Web), a New York City matchmaker who, while matching wealthy clients, is torn between a charming, affluent tech founder named Harry (Pedro Pascal, HBO’s The Last of Us) and her struggling ex-boyfriend, a broke actor named John (Chris Evans, Captain America: The Winter Soldier).

Written and directed by Celine Song (Past Lives), the story explores the conflict between superficial material desires in relationships and the search for genuine connection, with Lucy ultimately choosing the genuine relationship over the one that offers greater outward success and wealth
