Dead Man’s Wire from 2025, directed by Gus Van Sant (Restless), is a true-crime thriller-drama about the infamous February 8, 1977 hostage crisis in Indianapolis.

Disgruntled real-estate developer Tony Kiritsis (Bill Skarsgård, Atomic Blonde) kidnaps mortgage broker Richard Hall (Dacre Montgomery, Better Watch Out), strapping a sawed-off shotgun to Hall with a wire rigged to his own neck.

The movie blends analog-era tension and dark comedy as Kiritsis holds his broker hostage in his own apartment, demanding $5 million and a public apology while the crisis unfolds on live television. The ensemble cast also features Al Pacino (Scarface), Colman Domingo (Assassination Nation), Cary Elwes (Best Sellers), and Myha’la.
