New Release: King Kong (1933) Blu-ray

The original 1933 RKO classic King Kong, directed and produced by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, mades its long-awaited Blu-ray debut from Warner Home Video on Sept. 28, 2010, for a suggested retail price of $34.99.

The newly remastered “Eighth Wonder of the World” (as our favorite simian is so grandly referred to in the film) has a lot of company with him in this high-definition release.

Here are the other extras in the package:

  • Commentary by visual effects artists Ray Harryhausen (Jason and the Argonauts) and Ken Ralston, with Merian C. Cooper and actress Fay Wray
  • Merian C. Cooper movies trailer gallery
  • 2005 documentary I’m King Kong! The Exploits of Merian C. Cooper
