New Release: The Diplomat Blu-ray/DVD

The ever-dangerous world of high-stakes international intelligence takes center stage in the thriller movie The Diplomat, which arrived as a two-DVD/Blu-ray combo pack on Aug. 10, 2010, from Vivendi Entertainment and RHI Entertainment.

International star Dougray Scott (Hitman, Mission: Impossible II) headlines the independent film as a mysterious diplomat who is suspected of drug trafficking for the Russian mafia by Scotland Yard after he is caught attempting to smuggle over 20 kilos of heroin.

Offering him immunity for his cooperation in apprehending his criminal bosses, the investigation eventually leads to Australia where a vast global conspiracy is uncovered involving missing nuclear weapons stolen from the former Soviet Union.

Inspired by real incidents (what isn’t?), The Diplomat was made for British and Australian television in 2009 and was originally broadcast Stateside as a two-part, four-hour mini-series.

Co-starring Richard Roxburgh (Van Helsing, Stealth), Claire Forlani (Meet Joe Black, TV’s CSI: NY) and Rachael Blake (Derailed), The Diplomat is available for a suggested retail price of $19.93.
