New Release: Top Gear 14 and 15 DVD and Blu-ray

Top Gear 14 TV show sceneI have a confession to make: My father and my husband are Top Gear fanatics (in fact, we spent the entire 2010 Christmas week watching all the episodes of seasons one through 12 on Netflix!). But who can blame them? Even if you’re not a huge lover of cars, this British television show is fun, funny and just plain entertaining. Top Gear made its high-definition debut on Feb. 15, 2011, when seasons 14 and 15 were released on Blu-ray.

Hosted by car snob Jeremy Clarkson, sweeter Richard Hammond and serious car aficionado James May — and featuring super driver The Stig — the BBC‘s Top Gear is the premier auto TV show. (An Australian version has been running since 2008 and a U.S. version just launched on the History Channel.)

Aired in the U.S. on BBC America (as well as available through Netflix’s video streaming service), the British Top Gear rates all kinds of cars, features unusual races all over the world and shows celebrities competing for bragging rights as they drive as fast as possible around a track.

Top Gear 14 includes Sherlock Holmes director Guy Ritchie and actors Eric Bana (Star Trek) and Michael Sheen (Tron: Legacy), while Top Gear 15 showcases Rupert Grint (Harry Potter movies), Tom Cruise (Knight and Day), Cameron Diaz (Charlie’s Angels), Andy Garcia (City Island), Jeff Goldblum (Morning Glory) and Formula 1 racer Rubens Barrichello.

Top Gear 14 was priced at $24.98 on DVD and $39.98 on Blu-ray. Top Gear 15 was $19.98 on DVD and $24.99 on Blu-ray.

Both include six episodes with the team looking at an Aston DBS Volante, Ferrari California and Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder in 14 and the Reliant Robin and Toyota Hilux pick-up driving up the side of a volcano in 15.
