The principals takes their places for The Event.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment released the alien invasion TV show The Event: The Complete Series on DVD on Aug. 23, 2011, for the list price of $59.98.

A mix of science-fiction, adventure and political allegory, the series revolves around everyman Sean Walker (Jason Ritter, The Dry Land) who goes looking for his missing girlfriend and inadvertently stumbles on a massive government conspiracy involving the existence of human-like extraterrestrials who have been living among Earth’s population for years.

The first show created and produced by TV writer Nick Wauters, The Event also stars Sarah Roemer (The Con Artist), Zeljko Ivanek (TV’s Big Love) and, as the President of the United States, Blair Underwood (TV’s The New Adventures of Old Christine).

Described by OK! Magazine as “a Lost meets 24 thrill-ride,” The Event premiered on NBC-TV last fall and was canceled in May after the broadcast of its final season one episode, which is a shame, because it was really starting to get good.

The Complete Series includes all of the show’s 22 episodes along with “hours of explosive bonus features.”
