salvation boulevard movie scene

Pierce Brosnan is an evangelical pastor in the dark comedy Salvation Boulevard.

The formidable ensemble cast of Pierce Brosnan (The Greatest), Jennifer Connelly (Creation), Ed Harris (Man on a Ledge), Greg Kinnear (TV’s The Kennedys), Marisa Tomei (Cyrus) and Jim Gaffigan (Going the Distance) star in the 2011 dark comedy film Salvation Boulevard.

Set in the world of fundamentalist Christians and mega-churches, a former Deadhead turned born-again Christian named Carl (Kinnear) witnesses his evangelical pastor, Dan Day (Brosnan), accidentally shoot an atheist professor (Harris) in the head. Framed by the pastor and forced to run, Carl must now tangle with his wife (Connelly) and family, the devout mega-church followers, a Mexican crime lord and Pastor Day himself.

Directed and co-written by George Ratliff and based on Larry Beinhart‘s 2008 novel, Salvation Boulevard wasn’t received with that much enthusiasm upon its limited release to four screens in U.S. theaters in July, 2011. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie received a rating of 4.3/10 based on reviews by 33 critics.

Still, with a cast like the one Salvation Boulevard is sporting, we’re thinking it might be worth a look-see.

There are no bonus features on the DVD.
