The Rambler movie scene

Dermot Mulroney sets out for redemption in The Rambler.

Dermot Mulroney (The Grey) makes his way across the country in the 2013 comedy-horror mystery The Rambler.

In the film, a stranger known only as “The Rambler” (Mulroney) is just released from prison and anxious to build a new life for himself. Coming home to a faithless girlfriend (Natasha Lyonne, But I’m A Cheerleader), he quickly realizes his old life is truly behind him. With the promise of a job and some stability from his brother, the Rambler embarks on a cross-country journey to what hopefully is a new start. Armed only with his cowboy hat, shades, a guitar and traveling sack, the rambling dude encounters all manner of obstacles and dangers on his road to redemption, including a scientist with a dream-recording (onto VHS!) machine, a cab driver with an unnatural love of the original Frankenstein film, and  “mummies” that are being transported in the back of trucks.

Written and directed by Calvin Lee Reeder, the movie also stars Lindsay Pulsipher (TV’s True Blood).

Having garnered a nice, cultish rep at year’s Sundance and SXSW Festivals, the R-rated Rambler arrives prior to any theatrical play dates, but a limited engagement or two may be announced as it hits disc.
