Shameless: Season Three

It's all in the family in Shameless.

Premium cable channel Showtime’s critically acclaimed television comedy-drama series Shameless: Season Three delivers another 12 episodes of outrageous family dysfunction.

Shameless stars William H. Macy (The Lincoln Lawyer) as the South side of Chicago’s Frank Gallagher, a proud, working-class patriarch to a motley brood of six smart, spirited and independent kids. Booze-addled Frank leaves it up to eldest daughter Fiona (Emmy Rossum, The Phantom of the Opera) to hold down the fort as he takes a drunken bite out of life. Unofficial matriarch Fiona is fiercely determined to keep her dysfunctional family happy and whole, even if it means sacrificing her own personal needs. Needless to say, a half-dozen kids means a half-dozen unique sets of circumstances (and at least as many storylines)!

Season three of Shameless picks up 137 days since viewers last spent time with the Gallaghers. Fiona is scrounging for cash and finds herself in a succession of jobs, including club party promoter, grocery store cashier, and office worker. Eldest son Lip is sentenced to community service after stealing a laser, while Ian struggles to prevent Mickey from marrying a woman his father is forcing him to wed. Meanwhile, Jimmy contemplates returning to medical school; Veronica and Kevin are determined to have a baby; and Frank, after partying harder than usual, wakes up in Mexico without the papers or cash to get back home. As if their daily struggles weren’t enough, Fiona and her siblings have to deal with Child Protective Services threatening to take away the kids.

Based on the long-running, award-winning British TV show of the same name, Shameless was adapted for American television by Wells and original U.K. series creator Paul Abbott (State of Play).

The series also stars Joan Cusack (Mars Needs Moms), Justin Chatwin (Taken) and Steve Howey (TV’s Reba).

Timed for released shortly before the show’s Season Four premiere on Showtime in January, 2014, the DVD and Blu-ray contain the following bonus features:

  • Where the Streets Have No Shame (Featurette)
  • The Many Sides of Sheila (Featurette)
