Nominated for “Best Foreign Language Film” at the 2016 Academy Awards, A War stars Pilou Asbæk (Lucy) as a company commander on trial for the death of Afghanistan civilians.

A War-1Danish Company Commander Claus M. Pederson (Asbæk) is stationed in Afghanistan during the height of the war where he and his men are caught in heavy crossfire. A split second decision by Pederson to attack a fortified compound in the hopes of saving the lives of his men leads to him facing charges of killing local civilians.

Written and directed by Danish filmmaker Tobias Lindholm, the war drama’s DVD and Blu-ray incarnations also include an interview with Lindholm, along with on-the-ground reactions from U.S. military members following a screening.
