Michal Vinik’s first feature film, the drama-romance Blush, is an LGBT coming-of-age story set in the world of Israeli school girls.

Sivan Noam Shimon (l.) and Jade Sakori in Blush

Blush tells a story about Naama Barash (Sivan Noam Shimon), a 17 year-old high school girl in a small town in Israel, who through partying and drinking, finds refuge from her parents’ constant bickering and discovers her own identity. Her situation gets worse when her sister, an Israeli soldier, goes AWOL. When a free-spirited new girl (Jade Sakori) shows up at school, Naama falls deeply in love for the first time and the intensity of the experience at once confuses her and gives her life new meaning.

The film won Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Screenplay awards at the Haifa International Film Festival and Best Film at the Milan Lesbian and Gay International Film Festival.

Presented in Hebrew and Arabic with English subtitles, the DVD will also include an American short film, This is You and Me by April Maxey, as a bonus feature. The 15-minute film tells the story of a chance encounter at a bar that unravels into an intense and surreal all-nighter.
