Inspired by true events, the horror tale The Crucifixion follows a journalist’s supernatural investigation into a nun’s shocking death during an exorcism.

Sophie Cookson in The Crucifixion

American reporter Nicole Rawlins (Sophie Cookson) ventures into the Romanian countryside in pursuit of a story, again, about a nun who died during an exorcism. As she interviews priests and parishioners, Nicole begins to experience the usual strange phenomena: unexplained noises, objects moving, ghostly faces. It’s soon revealed that the demon is still lurking nearby, seeking a new human host.

Directed by Xavier Gens, who’s done his fair share of respectable work with such genre flicks as Hitman and The Divide, this latest R-rated outing didn’t exactly knock the critics off their feet upon its limited Stateside theatrical rollout this fall. It made a little bit more noise in Europe…

Blu-ray and DVD features include “The Crucifixion: The Director’s Vision” featurette and a trailer gallery.
