Film Movement serves up a pair of British comedy classics directed by the British cinema stalwart Alexander Mackendrick  (Sweet Smell of Success) for the first time on Blu-ray in North America: Whisky Galore! (1949) and The Maggie (1954).

Named one of the BFI’s Best British Films of the 20th Century and shot entirely on location, Mackendrick’s 1949 directorial debut Whisky Galore! about a Scottish island deprived of its most essential libation.

Mackendrick returned to his Scottish roots for 1954’s The Maggie concerning an old puffer boat which chug among the Western Isles of Scotland.

Both products of England’s legendary Ealing Studios, the Blu-ray incarnation of the two films includes the following bonus features:
