The oft-told legend of Arthur, legendary King of the Britons, and his court at Camelot—you know, the one you’ve seen in 1967’s Camelot, 1995’s First Knight,  2004’s King Arthur, 2017’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and, my favorites, 1972’s Excalibur and 1975’s Monty Python and the Holy Grail—receives its latest rendering in this year’s Arthur & Merlin: Knights of Camelot.

The year 463 England is a land divided. King Arthur has been absent for five years, fighting a war abroad that has stricken his knights, left his throne defenseless and his queen at the mercy of Modred, his illegitimate son. Even with war all around him, he must return home and face the rising danger threatening his kingdom. But as he fights to preserve Camelot and all that he holds dear—guided by the wizard Merlin—Arthur must race the stakes even higher if he is to achieve his destiny.

Shot entirely in Wales over 17 days just as the COVID lockdown was beginning, Arthur & Merlin: Knights of Camelot is directed and co-written by Giles Alderson and stars Richard Short (Mary Kills People) as Arthur, Richard Brake (Game of Thrones) as Merlin and Stella Stocker as Guinevere.
