New Release: Paper Man Blu-ray and DVD

A failed novelist with a major case of writer’s block spends a chilly winter in Montauk, Long Island, in search of inspiration in the comedy/drama Paper Man, which arrived on Blu-ray and DVD from MPI on Jan. 18, 2011.

The independent film stars the always-watchable Jeff Daniels (Howl, Pleasantville) as Richard Dunn, the writer in search of a second novel. He’s aided by Emma Stone (Easy A) as a lonely local teen who befriends Richard after he hires her to be a baby sitter … his baby sitter.

Strong support comes from Lisa Kudrow (Bandslam) as Richard’s cool but caring wife and Ryan Reynolds (Buried) as Captain Excellent, an imaginary costumed superhero “friend” who has lived in Richard’s head since he was a child.

Directed by Kieran and Michele Mulroney (the screenwriters of Guy Ritchie’s upcoming sequel to his blockbuster Sherlock Holmes), Paper Man received a three-screen theatrical release in April 2010 but is best known for its roll-out at four domestic film festivals, including the Los Angeles Film Festival.

Bonus features on the DVD and Blu-ray include the following:

  • making-of featurette
  • deleted, alternate and extended scenes

The DVD and Blu-ray editions carry a list price of $27.98 and $34.98, respectively.
