Thelma & Louise movie sceneThe classic girl power movie, Thelma & Louise arrived on high-definition Blu-ray on Feb. 8, 2011, from MGM Home Entertainment, through distributor 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, in a 20th Anniversary Edition.

The 1991 movie, directed by Ridley Scott (Robin Hood), stars Susan Sarandon (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps) and Geena Davis (The Long Kiss Goodnight) as the titular women. One day, Thelma and Louise decide to leave their normal lives and hit the road together in a 1966 Thunderbird. But when Louise shoots a rapist, the women’s road trip becomes a run from the police. Harvey Keitel (Bad Lieutenant) and Brad Pitt (Seven) also star as a determined detective and sweet-talking hitchhiker, respectively.

Rated R, the film won an Academy Award for best original screenplay, written by Callie Khouri (Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood), but also was nominated for best film editing, best cinematography, best director and best actress for both its leading ladies.
