New Release: Bull Durham Blu-ray

Bull Durham hit a new high when it debuted on Blu-ray as part of a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack on Aug. 3, 2010, from MGM Home Entertainment (distributed by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment). It carried a suggested retail price of $24.99.

The sports movie concerns the threeway gameplay that evolves between an aging minor league baseball catcher (Kevin Costner, Dances With Wolves), an up-and-coming young pitcher with maturity problems (Tim Robbins, Mystic River) and a baseball groupie who romances them both (Susan Sarandon, Dead Man Walking). The 1988 film was written and directed by Ron Shelton (White Men Can’t Jump).

The Bull Durham Blu-ray/DVD combo contains the following special features:

  • commentary from director Ron Shelton
  • commentary from Kevin Costner and Tim Robbins
  • “The Greatest Show On Dirt” featurette – 20 years later the cast, crew and fans remember Bull Durham
  • “Diamonds In the Rough” featurette – Explores minor league baseball
  • “Between the Lines: The Making of Bull Durham” featurette

All the special features also were included in the Bull Durham Collector’s Edition DVD released in 2008.
